History Of The Gascon


The Gasconne or Gascon breed hails from the Pyrenees Mountains of SW France.It is officially classified as a hardy suckler breed, along with the Salers and the Aubrac.Unlike these two however it is mainly bred pure, testimony to its good conformation. thanks to an award-winning breed improvement programme, todays Gascon bull combines growth and carcase qualities with meternal traits inherent in the breed.

The Gascon came to th U.K. at the beginning of the 90's. It has proved itself in all conditions to be an excellent all-round beef animal, its future is assured.

Average Weight : Cows 600 - 750 kgs Bulls : 800 - 950kgs
